Word made Flesh
A few years ago, during the dark winter months, I enjoyed many an Evensong tucked up in the choir stalls of Chichester Cathedral, with two fistfuls of crayons and a pile of new sketch books.
Evensong is the most beautifully intimate of services, set in the space between gratitude for the day and preparation for the night. The Cathedral gloriously received and magnified the choir’s voice: I was remembered of light inaccessible, of love ineffable, and sketch book after sketch book began to fill up. As I gathered the eternal into meaning, colour and form, Word became Flesh and dwelt with me, incarnate as a body of paintings.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom God will send in my name, shall bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away. For if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you.
Nicola 40:50 With the light of loving, the Comforter illuminates your experiences. You seek comfort, comfort is manifest and you arrive comforted. It is done.
